Zur Basiswellenform gesellen sich zwei schaltbare Suboktav-Lagen für das klangliche Fundament. Gefiltert wird das erzeugte Spektrum mit einem leicht bissigen Lowpass-Filter. Für Bewegung im Klang ist dank Attack/Decay Hüllkurve und LFO mit Rechteck und Dreieck-Wellenformen durchaus gesorgt. Gespielt werden die Töne mittels Kontaktstift und den 24 Metallplättchen die zwei Oktaven auf einer Klaviatur repräsentieren. Die Ausgabe erfolgt via eingebautem Lautsprecher und per Aux- und Kopfhörerausgang. Zum Betrieb des Stylophone Gen X-2 sind vier AA Batterien notwendig die sich nicht im Lieferumgang befinden. Viele Zusatzfunktionen in der zweiten Generation Die zweite Generation dieses Minisynths wartet mit einigen Zusatzfunktionen auf. Zunächst fällt das tiefblaue Gehäuse ins Auge. Oberhalb der Tastatur befindet sich der Strip-Controller mit dem sich wahlweise die LFO Geschwindigkeit der Tonhöhe oder das Filter modulieren lassen. Die Tonhöhe lässt sich nun bequem per Oktavschalter über drei Oktaven hinweg umschalten. Das Highlight dürften die neuen Steuerspannungsanschlüsse sein. Über die Eingänge Pitch Gate und Filter kann der Gen X-2 von jedem beliebigen Sequenzer oder Masterkeyboard die über CV/Gate Ausgänge verfügen gespielt werden. Andersrum kann man mit den Pitch und Gate Ausgängen ein Eurorack-Modularsystem oder einen halbmodularen Synthesizer spielen!
