Jahrzehnt, als Notar und Rat, dann als Offizial des grossen Erzbischofs Baldewin von Trier, der stärksten staatsmännischen Persönlichkeit der Zeit, in einem Brennpunkt der europäischen Politik gestanden hat¿ und uns eine unvergleichliche Sammlung an Briefen und Urkunden, sein so genanntes Konzeptbuch , hinterlassen hat. Aber nicht die große Politik soll den Gegenstand der Arbeit bilden, sondern die personengeschichtliche Betrachtung des Rudolf Losse und seines Personenkreises im Hinblick auf seine Bewerbung um ein Kanonikat an der Stiftskirche St. Marien zu Erfurt. Die Arbeit bedient sich also einem individualisierten Ansatz der Geschichtswissenschaft. Es soll eine Untersuchung der personalen Verflechtung durchgeführt werden, bei der Rudolf Losse im Mittelpunkt steht und seine Mitstreiter in Bezug zu ihm gesetzt werden sollen.Im Folgenden soll hierzu exemplarisch die oben genannte Bewerbung Rudolf Losses für ein Kanonikat an der Stiftskirche St. Marien zu Erfurt herangezogen werden.
