In order to fulfill the increased requirements for electrical drives in terms of reliability and safety, PHIL emulators for electrical machines have been developed over the past years. However, up to now, these emulators are not suitable to emulate the operating behavior of a real machine equivalently. This study starts at this point and identifies the ideal design of a PHIL test bench to emulate a synchronous machine holistically.
