The study of the development of flowering plants may be said to be in the throes of a revolution. The literature on the subject is extensive and continues to grow rapidly as new discoveries pile one on top of the other; moreover, these striking advances in our knowledge have put plant developmental biology well ahead of other aspects of the study of plants. This has come about after a period of neglect and stagnation in the field and has been triggered by the power of recombinant DNA technology to analyze genetic information and by a fruitful cross-fertilization between physiology, genetics, and molecular biology. Whereas considerations of developmental phenomena were at one time largely restricted to the structure and physiology of a wide selection of plants, recent molecular and genetic approaches are focused on one or two model systems. Notwithstanding the difficulty of having to relate developmental mechanisms in a few experimentally attractive models to the enormous range of plants, the use of model systems has gained wide accep tance. This book is intended to meet the need for a unified account of the general principles of development of flowering plants representing structural, physiolog ical, biochemical, genetic, and molecular perspectives. It arose out of the revision and upgrading of an undergraduate course in plant development that I have taught here at The Ohio State University for more than 20 years.

We have deliberately avoided to join or organize multicenter stu dies believing that a larger output of data cannot outweigh the disadvantages of possible mistakes and errors through lack of contact and controversial conceptions among the coworkers. We hope to show that studies planned for screening of as many as 10 000 probands can be performed at relatively low expense. Satellite Earth observation (EO) data have already exceeded the petabyte scale and are increasingly freely and openly available from different data providers. This poses a number of issues in terms of volume (e.g., data volumes have increased 10× in the last 5 years); velocity (e.g., Sentinel-2 is capturing a new image of any given place every 5 days); and variety (e.g., different types of sensors, spatial/spectral resolutions). Traditional approaches to the acquisition, management, distribution, and analysis of EO data have limitations (e.g., data size, heterogeneity, and complexity) that impede their true information potential to be realized. Addressing these big data challenges requires a change of paradigm and a move away from local processing and data distribution methods to lower the barriers caused by data size and related complications in data management. To tackle these issues, EO data cubes (EODC) are a new paradigm revolutionizing the way users can store, organize, manage, and analyze EO data. It is clear that they deeply love each other and want to be together. The other theme is that of physical attraction where the couple elaborately and explicitly describe each other. At the end of the book, the poem defines love. Using emphatic language, it paints the picture of love as an extremely powerful thing, how it can both be a constructive and destructive force. But, ultimately, love is a gift from God. The book ends with Solomon trying to buy the woman's love, but she refuses and longs for the man she is in love with. The message of this book seems to be the importance, significance, and power of love and how it transcends earthly things like wealth and is part of divine providence.

The literature on the subject is extensive and continues to grow rapidly as new discoveries pile one on top of the other; moreover, these striking advances in our knowledge have put plant developmental biology well ahead of other aspects of the study of plants. This has come about after a period of neglect and stagnation in the field and has been triggered by the power of recombinant DNA technology to analyze genetic information and by a fruitful cross-fertilization between physiology, genetics, and molecular biology. Whereas considerations of developmental phenomena were at one time largely restricted to the structure and physiology of a wide selection of plants, recent molecular and genetic approaches are focused on one or two model systems. Notwithstanding the difficulty of having to relate developmental mechanisms in a few experimentally attractive models to the enormous range of plants, the use of model systems has gained wide accep tance. This book is intended to meet the need for a unified account of the general principles of development of flowering plants representing structural, physiolog ical, biochemical, genetic, and molecular perspectives. It arose out of the revision and upgrading of an undergraduate course in plant development that I have taught here at The Ohio State University for more than 20 years.

Tourism constitutes one of the quickly evolving sectors. So far little research of strategic management in these emerging tourism markets has been conducted. Goal of this study is to display the German National Tourist Organization's and Switzerland Tourism's strategic management as they are trying to market their home country as a destination for tourists from the emerging markets of China and India respectively. An explanatory model was created to be able to analyze and identify macro-environmental, industry-specific, and organization-specific factors that influence strategic management in these markets. Research was conducted on the basis of a documentary analysis and complementary interviews with the responsible managers of the two National Tourism Offices as well as other experts from the industry. Results show that both national tourism organizations use similar differentiation strategies, marketing their country as a destination by the use of themes, independently of the market's characteristics, such as size and growth rate. The reason seems to be that they are able to neglect the external threat caused by the threat of substitutes and customers' negotiating power in their management strategies. However, the importance and power of informal networks - especially in Asian markets - and the small financial budgets seem to be the key factors explaining why national tourism organizations choose the use of multiplier effects as a strategy to market their country especially in emerging tourism markets. This strategy focuses marketing activity on approaching intermediaries, such as tour operators or media, instead of the final consumer (tourist) as it is practiced in established markets.
