Sie verhalten sich völlig transparent im Datennetz, daher ist die Installation von Treibern oder Zusatzsoftware nicht erforderlich. Die Inbetriebnahme erfolgt durch einfaches Einfügen in eine bestehende Netzwerkverkabelung, zum Beispiel über das optional erhältliche 25 cm Anschlusskabel. Eine externe Stromquelle ist für den Betrieb nicht erforderlich. Der MI 1005 wurde von der benannten Stelle für Medizinprodukte, dem Eurocat Institut in Darmstadt, nach IEC 60601-1 und DIN EN 60601-1 sowie IEC 60601-1-2 und DIN EN 60601-1-2 geprüft. Neben den vier Wellenformausgängen der beiden Oszillatoren gibt es den XOR-Ausgang der lediglich 1-Bit des DA-Wandlers ausgibt und PWM dem ein Comparator zugrunde liegt der beide Oszillatoren mit einbezieht. Die Filterausgänge greifen den PWM-Ausgang und den externen Eingang ab das Mischverhältnis wird mit INPUT eingestellt.Der Rungler selbst ist ein 8/16-stufiges Schieberegister das seinen Dateneingang von Oszillator 1 und seinen Takteingang von Oszillator 2 erhält. Der Ausgang des Schieberegisters wird dann in einen simplen DA-Wandler eingespeist der ein gestuftes Spannungsmuster mit variabler Länge und Tiefe erzeugt. Diese Rungler-Welle wird dann über die Abschwächer in die Oszillatoren und das Filter zurückgeführt und erzeugt so ein komplexes Interferenzsystem welches dem Benjolin diesen einzigartigen aleatorischen Charakter verleiht. Teil der Fuzz-Schaltung ist ein Pickup-Simulator der einen einzigartigen Sound erzeugt wenn dieser mit der Induktivität der Pickup-Spulen in einer Gitarre gepaart wird. Daher ist im FSS eine Spule eingebaut die das von einem Gitarrentonabnehmer abgegebene Eurorack-Signal simuliert. Zusätzlich zu den Einzelausgängen der beiden Zerr-Einheiten und dem Mix-Ausgang verfügt das Modul über einen Pickup-Ausgang. Das ist die die eigenständige Eurorack-Version des außergewöhnlichen Pyramid Sequenzers. Primär ist Hermod+ ein Multitrack Eurorack Sequencer mit acht CV/Gate Spuren und acht MIDI Spuren. Der Sequenzer erlaubt Realtime Aufnahme oder Step-by-Step was dank der 16 weißen Pads sehr übersichtlich von Statten geht. Für viel Abwechslung in der Ablaufsteuerung und den einzelnen Spuren sorgt eine Modulationsmatrix die als Quelle die vier CV-Eingänge (A-D) und verschiedene MIDI-Werte akzeptiert. Die Ziele in der Matrix lassen sich vielfältig auf CV Gate und MIDI-Events routen. Komplexe Pattern dank Dynamik-Effekten Die Dynamik Effekte entbinden gespielte Noten Trigger und sogar MIDI-CCs von der Starrheit ihrer selbst und ermöglichen Variationen jenseits dessen was ursprünglich programmiert wurde. XPO stellt elf Wellenformen zugleich zur Verfügung die sich auf fünf Mono und drei Stereo Paare aufteilen. Die Mono-Wellenformen also die normalen eines gängigen Oszillators bestehen aus Sinus Dreieck Sägezahn Spike und Sub. Letztere ist eine Abwandlung aus dem STO-Oszillator. Die drei Stereo-Paare setzen sich aus PWM Wavefolding und Vari-Timbre für die jeweils linke und rechte Seite zusammen. PWM macht erwartungsgemäß genau das was es tun soll. Vari-Timbre ist von alten Buchla-Oszillatoren wie Model 158 und 258 inspiriert und kann von Sinus zu Sägezahn überblenden. Wavefold nimmt sich ebenfalls Sinus als Ausgangsmaterial vor fügt dem Signal durch Wellenfaltung metallisch anmutende Obertöne hinzu. Je Wellenform gibt es auf dem normalisierten linken Kanal eine Abwandlung die eine Mixtur aus der linken und der rechten Wellenform ist. Der Center Parameter moduliert die linke und rechte Seite zusammen zudem ist jede Seite mittels Modulate L/R getrennt voneinander bipolar modulierbar. An dieser Stelle entsteht ein sehr breites und lebendiges Klangspektrum das in dieser Form bislang wohl einzigartige sein dürfte. Zur Modulation der Frequenz gibt es exponentielle FM mit Attenuverter und einen lineraren FM Eingang. Dieser hat auf dem Eingang bereits den Suboszillator des XPO vorgepatcht und kann durch jedes andere Signal ersetzt werden. Zudem ist die Intensität der linearen FM mittels VCA kontrollierbar. Vollendet wird die Steuerung der Tonhöhe mit einem Hardsync-Eingang.Die Grundidee hinter dem XPO ist das einige polyphone Analog Synthesizer von damals bis heute zwar ein Voicepanning innerhalb der Stimmenarchtitektur anbieten das Stereobild jedoch erst im bzw. hinter dem VCA realisiert wird. XPO geht diesen Weg komplett neu und bietet den Stereo Signalweg schon ganz am Anfang und addiert zur klassischen PWM noch Wavefolding und Vari-Shape. Die besten Ergebnisse mit XPO erzielt man durch Kombination mit den Make Noise Modulen QPAS und X-PAN. Natürlich ist jede andere Patchmöglichkeit vor allem jene mit Stereomodulen zu empfehlen um die Stereo-Qualitäten des XPO hervorzuheben.
