Modern electronic design automation tools can be used to apply a variety of transformations to hardware blocks in an effort to achieve performance and power savings. A number of such transformations require tools with intimate knowledge of the design's timing characteristics. Static timing analysis estimates the worst-case timing behavior of hardware data flow graphs. The static timing analyzer described in this book operates on data flow graphs which are generated as intermediate representations within a C to VHDL hardware acceleration compiler. Two additional tools were then developed which utilize the results of the static timing analysis. An automated pipelining tool was developed to increase the throughput of large blocks of combinational logic generated by the compiler. Another tool was designed to mitigate power consumption resulting from combinational glitching. By inserting special signal buffers with preselected propagation delays, known as delay elements, functional units can be kept inactive until their inputs stabilize. This book explores these tools as well as the various design tradeoffs resulting from their use.

The model is derived by investigating the electronic structure of carbon nanotubes and by using the basic laws of electrostatics in a field effect transistor. By describing the carrier concentration and charge distribution in carbon nanotubes, analytical expressions for the carbon nanotube potential are derived and used to obtain current transport equations for a CNT-FET. Threshold and saturation voltages expressions are each derived in the process and I-V characteristics for CNT-FETs are calculated using different combinations of chiral vectors. The voltage transfer characteristics of basic logic circuits based on complementary CNT-FETs are also studied. A small-signal radio frequency (rf) model is developed and it is shown to have cut-off frequencies in the upper GHz range. Finally, due to the rapid growth of carbon nanotubes as bio- and chemical sensing devices, possible methods to interpret and analyze CNT-FETs when utilized as biosensors are also presented.

Again and again people claim to see oneself like some famous persons such as Catharine the Great and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. This term paper will analyze the Double-motif in Robert Louis Stevenson¿s novel The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with regard to psychoanalysis. While citing secondary literature it became obvious that a good portion of these examinations use psychological criteria which offer a wider range of insight into the oddly logic of Stevenson¿s text which he to no purpose named The Strange Case. The first is a faculty to follow explicit rules properly and to comply with implicitly given norms, the second is active autonomy in developing the rules and norms. This claim might be astounding since Kant himself seems to have stressed the distinction. But it was H. who has drawn the necessary consequences, for example that it is logically impossible to determine laws autonomously for oneself because we need a frame of a we-group or community and a communal practice or institution for the very possibility of having well-determined rules at all. The conceptual relation between norms of proper conduct and forms of cooperation shows up paradigmatically in the fact that I can sing in a choir correctly only together with others. Moreover, only after I can show that I can participate and judge the fulfilment of the norms, my proposals to change such forms of action and practices will count in a community. This holds as well for any attempt to make rules explicit by articulating implicit norms that already govern our (cooperative) actions implicitly – which is a prerequisite for conscious changes of general laws that presuppose at least some forms of comments on pregiven norms.
