But the work of these two is very separate because bailiffs usually enforce court orders and warrants issued by the government departments and are allowed to take people¿s goods to sell it to pay what is owed (csa). In contrast to a bailiff a debt collector has no right to do that and is only a representative of a Debt Collection Agency (payplan). However, there are different types of bailiffs that must be distinguished and will be dealt with in one of the following paragraphs of this paper. If you are a creditor and have problems with a debtor or if you are a debtor and afraid of an arriving bailiff, you will find a lot of websites on the internet offering help and giving advice. This shows that there is an increasing awareness of bailiffs and since courtroom shows have experienced a remarkable revival in the mid-1990s and became a regular feature of daytime television, bailiffs are present on the TV screen, too (Versteegen 71). While examining the presentation of this occupation, I will demonstrate that bailiffs are shown in a contrary way in the media. To prove my thesis, I will firstly give a definition and an overview of the job and function of a bailiff, present the different types of bailiffs and will also deal with the walking possession agreement. In the second part of my paper I will have a look at two different presentations of Bailiffs in the media: First I will examine a debtor¿s proceed against a bailiff, which caught the attention of the media. In contrast to that I will have a look at the character of Petri Hawkins-Byrd, the popular bailiff of the American courtroom show ¿Judge Judy¿ and his depiction on the TV show. In the last part of my paper I will evaluate my findings and prove my thesis that the presentation of this occupation in the media differs. Finally I will assume the function of these distinct ways of presenting this occupation and will also refer to the two different genres of media in which the bailiffs are shown, namely on the one hand a real court case in newspapers and on the radio and on the other hand a TV courtroom series.

König Heinrich VIII. von England (1491-1547) war wohl eine der schillerndsten Herrschergestalten seiner Zeit. Als er 1509, also vor 500 Jahren, als zweiter der Regenten aus dem Hause Tudor den Königsthron bestieg, galt er bereits vielen als einer der umfassendst gebildeten Monarchen seiner Zeit. Wie damals üblich, so macht auch bei ihm ein wesentlicher Bestandteil seiner Bildung die Musik aus: Er erhielt Flöten- und Lautenunterricht sowie Unterweisung in Komposition, deren Ergebnisse sich auch in großer Zahl erhalten haben. An seinem Hof wurde natürlich ebenfalls ausgiebig musiziert, und der König selbst besaß nicht nur eine gewaltige Musikinstrumentensammlung (darunter 147 Blockflöten, 26 Lauten und 25 Spinette), sondern auch eine umfangreiche Sammlung an Noten, die auch von seinen Nachfolgern stetig erweitert wurde. Aus dem Repertoire von Heinrich VIII. und seiner Nachfolger aus dem Hause Tudor haben der Countertenor Franz Vitzthum und Flautando Köln ein repräsentatives und abwechslungsreiches Programm mit Werken von Heinrich VIII., William Byrd, Anthony Holborne u.a. zusammengestellt. Die Qualität der Musik macht verständlich, warum das Herrscherhaus der Tudors einer ganzen Epoche der englischen Kunst- und Musikgeschichte seinen Namen gegeben hat. Der 500. Jahrestag seiner Thronbesteigung bietet Anlass, sich einmal in ungewohnter Weise mit einem Monarchen zu beschäftigen.

Generalising Newton's law of gravitation, general relativity is one of the pillars of modern physics. While applications in the beginning were restricted to isolated effects such as a proper understanding of Mercury's orbit, the second half of the twentieth century saw a massive development of applications. These include cosmology, gravitational waves, and even very practical results for satellite based positioning systems as well as different approaches to unite general relativity with another very successful branch of physics – quantum theory. The Maid Narratives shares the memories of black domestic workers and the white families they served, uncovering the often intimate relationships between maid and mistress. Based on interviews with over fifty people - both white and black - these stories deliver a personal and powerful message about resilience and resistance in the face of oppression in the Jim Crow South. The housekeepers, caretakers, sharecroppers, and cooks who share their experiences in The Maid Narratives ultimately moved away during the Great Migration. Their perspectives as servants who left for better opportunities outside of the South offer an original telling of physical and psychological survival in a racially oppressive caste system: Vinella Byrd, for instance, from Pine Bluff, Arkansas, recalls how a farmer she worked for would not allow her to clean her hands in the family's wash pan. These narratives are complemented by the voices of white women, such as Flora Templeton Stuart, from New Orleans, who remembers her maid fondly but realises that she knew little about her life. Like Stuart, many of the white narrators remain troubled by the racial norms of the time. Viewed as a whole, the book presents varied, rich, and detailed accounts, often tragic, and sometimes humorous. The Maid Narratives reveals, across racial lines, shared hardships, strong emotional ties, and inspiring strength.
