Als Antonio zwölf Jahre später mit einer Hochzeitsgesellschaft an der Insel vorbeisegelt, erleidet er in einem von Prospero mit magischen Kräften entfachten Sturm Schiffbruch und die Gruppe landet auf Prosperos Insel. Die deutsche Erstaufführung erfolgte 1761 in Biberach. Die in dieser Ausgabe zugrunde gelegte Übersetzung stammt von August Wilhelm Schlegel und wurde erstmals 1798 bei Johann Friedrich Unger in Berlin gedruckt.
