CozKa Studio Airay A1073592551
Airay is a Sci-fi / Fantasy illustrated novel. With over 500 pages, it contains 50+ full illustrations between chapters, drawn by the author herself. This is book one of an immersive Sci-Fi / fantasy series, with themes of expansive world building, found family, and coming of age. Set in a futuristic world, find a vast universe awaiting you with deep lore that will stretch across future books. With mention of multiple planets, humanoid species, and elemental powers, this book is a great mix of science fiction, and fantasy. "Anaiess, home to many humanoid species, is a planet-wide nation of technologic advancements and a shining beacon of unity across the galaxy. But within the bustling, diverse world, a secret lies. Deeply rooted in the forgotten peninsula of Brynden Ka, a strange phenomenon has begun. Citizens have started to possess unnatural Elemental-like powers. Many across the nation attribute these 'abilities' to be the work of Avari, a species that has long since vanished, taking their own powers with them. In the chaos of how to address such energy in these rare cases, the Elemental Military Enforcement, EME, has risen to remove Elementals from the public entirely. Though rumor has it, EME isn't searching for Elementals, but a single Avari. Growing up hidden and sheltered, Kon must learn what he is. In a world his people were rejected from, he remains. Alone. As he grows, it becomes clearer what he is. He can't hide forever. His powerful unnatural abilities grow stronger every year, as does the grip of the EME, unstoppable in their mission to find him. Amidst fleeing the EME, he must learn to trust others to discover the true reason his parents, and his people, left him behind." Written and illustrated by Coz K.A., enjoy the mix of writing and artwork, combined to enhance your reading experience. With back matter including sketches and character art, you can dive even deeper into the story by following the artist online, where she posts weekly illustrations and updates on the story. Popular online via Instagram and Tiktok, this book was successfully funded on Kickstarter in 39 minutes and awarded the "Projects We Love" badge in September of 2024.

Abrams & Chronicle Books Breaking Bao A1071178943
Food & Wine Best Cookbooks of 2024 • New York Times Best Cookbooks of 2024 “Breaking Bao is the rare cookbook that stops you in your tracks. Breaking Bao is a culinary journey bridging gaps between Asian flavors and global techniques. It is a collection of recipes rooted in renowned chef Clarice Lam’s personal journey of self-discovery and the transformative power of embracing one’s heritage. Here are 88 approachable recipes that are firmly rooted in classical French technique but travel far and wide. Cakes & Desserts: classics treated with a twist, such as Mango-Yakult Tres Leches Cake, Ovaltine Mochi Marjolaine, and Pandan-Lime Meringue Pie. Snax: savory and sweet treats, from Cantonese-Style Fig and Marzipan Mooncakes to Gochujang-Furikake Caramel Popcorn to Ramen Cheese Itz. Scholastic Sunrise on the Reaping (eBook) A1074966589
"Sunrise on the Reaping is a propulsive, heart-wrenching addition to The Hunger Games, adding welcome texture to the cruel world of Panem . This is the project of dystopian fiction: to shine a light in tyranny''s greasiest corners and show how people - ordinary, determined human beings - might take it apart" - New York Times "Collins is an excellent writer, and there are moments of surprising lyricism . Sunrise on the Reaping contains enough both to snare new readers and to satisfy the most bloodthirsty fan" - Guardian When you''ve been set up to lose everything you love, what is there left to fight for? As the day dawns on the fiftieth annual Hunger Games, fear grips the districts of Panem. This year, in honour of the Quarter Quell, twice as many tributes will be taken from their homes. Back in District 12, Haymitch Abernathy is trying not to think too hard about his chances. All he cares about is making it through the day and being with the girl he loves. When Haymitch''s name is called, he can feel all his dreams break. He''s torn from his family and his love, shuttled to the Capitol with the three other District 12 tributes: a young friend who''s nearly a sister to him, a compulsive oddsmaker, and the most stuck-up girl in town. As the Games begin, Haymitch understands he''s been set up to fail. But there''s something in him that wants to fight . . . and have that fight reverberate far beyond the deadly arena. Four books, five films and one worldwide phenomenon, The Hunger Games original trilogy changed the face of global YA and The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes was an instant number one bestseller (Nielsen Bookscan, May 2020). All four of the Hunger Games novels have been made into major feature films, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Rachel Zegler, Tom Blyth and Peter Dinklage. A feature film for Sunrise On the Reaping - the fifth book in the Hunger Games series - is slated for November 2026 OTHER BOOKS IN THE SERIES The Hunger Games The Hunger Games illustrated edition released in October 2024 Catching Fire Mockingjay The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

Helen Zhang hasn’t seen Grant Shepard once in the thirteen years since the tragic accident that bound their lives together forever. Now a bestselling author, Helen pours everything into her career. She’s even scored a coveted spot in the writers’ room of the TV adaptation of her popular young adult novels, and if she can hide her imposter syndrome and overcome her writer’s block, surely the rest of her life will fall into place too. LA is the fresh start she needs. After all, no one knows her there. Except… Grant has done everything in his power to move on from the past, including building a life across the country. And while the panic attacks have never quite gone away, he’s well liked around town as a screenwriter, known for his sharp comedic banter. He knows he shouldn’t have taken the job on Helen’s show, but it will open doors to developing his own projects that he just can’t pass up. Grant’s exactly as Helen remembers him—charming; funny, popular, and lovable in ways that she’s never been. And Helen’s exactly as Grant remembers too—brilliant; beautiful, closed off. But this workplace romance is messy, and electrifying, and Helen’s parents, who have never forgiven Grant, have no idea he’s in the picture at all. When secrets come to light, they must reckon with the fact that theirs was never meant to be any kind of love story. And yet… in this angsty and emotional slow burn second chance romance, the key to making peace with their past—and themselves—might just lie in holding on to each other in the present.

There were moments I thought of Penelope Fitzgerald - that moment I have always loved in The Beginning of Spring when the birch trees seem to grow hands - those liminal moments that are kind of beyond words, or explanation, but Miller finds them anyway. It's a thing of rare beauty' RACHEL JOYCE, author of The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry 'Disruptive and graceful beyond anything I've read' SARAH HALL, author of Burntcoat December 1962, the West Country. In the darkness of an old asylum, a young man unscrews the lid from a bottle of sleeping pills. In the nearby village, two couples begin their day. Local doctor, Eric Parry, mulling secrets, sets out on his rounds, while his pregnant wife sleeps on in the warmth of their cottage. Across the field, in a farmhouse impossible to heat, funny, troubled Rita Simmons is also asleep, her head full of images of a past life her husband prefers to ignore. He's been up for hours, tending to the needs of the small dairy farm he bought, a place where he hoped to create a new version of himself, a project that's already faltering. There is affection - if not always love - in both homes: these are marriages that still hold some promise. But when the ordinary cold of an English December gives way to violent blizzards - a true winter, the harshest in living memory - the two couples find their lives beginning to unravel. Where do you hide when you can't leave home? And where, in a frozen world, can you run to? "Sunrise on the Reaping is a propulsive, heart-wrenching addition to The Hunger Games, adding welcome texture to the cruel world of Panem ... This is the project of dystopian fiction: to shine a light in tyranny's greasiest corners and show how people - ordinary, determined human beings - might take it apart" - New York Times "Collins is an excellent writer, and there are moments of surprising lyricism ... Sunrise on the Reaping contains enough both to snare new readers and to satisfy the most bloodthirsty fan" - Guardian “A brutal, tender tale that adds depth to the franchise, weaving pertinent themes of misinformation and propaganda around the thrills and action.” - The Observer When you've been set up to lose everything you love, what is there left to fight for? As the day dawns on the fiftieth annual Hunger Games, fear grips the districts of Panem. This year, in honour of the Quarter Quell, twice as many tributes will be taken from their homes. Back in District 12, Haymitch Abernathy is trying not to think too hard about his chances. All he cares about is making it through the day and being with the girl he loves. When Haymitch's name is called, he can feel all his dreams break. He's torn from his family and his love, shuttled to the Capitol with the three other District 12 tributes: a young friend who's nearly a sister to him, a compulsive oddsmaker, and the most stuck-up girl in town. As the Games begin, Haymitch understands he's been set up to fail. But there's something in him that wants to fight . . . and have that fight reverberate far beyond the deadly arena. Four books, five films and one worldwide phenomenon, The Hunger Games original trilogy changed the face of global YA and The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes was an instant number one bestseller (Nielsen Bookscan, May 2020). Little, Brown Books for Young Readers Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherlands A1068003287
'Forget dark academia: give me instead this kind of winter-sunshined, sharp-tongued and footnoted academia, full of field trips and grumpy romance' Freya Marske, author of A Marvellous Light An intrepid professor must uncover faerie secrets in the delightful and heart-warming second instalment of the Sunday Times bestselling Emily Wilde series. Emily Wilde is a genius scholar of faerie folklore, and has catalogued many secrets of the Hidden Folk in her encyclopaedia with her infuriatingly charming fellow scholar, Wendell Bambleby, by her side. But Bambleby is more than just a brilliant and unbearably handsome scholar. He's an exiled faerie king on the run from his murderous mother, in search of a door back to his realm. By lucky happenstance, Emily's new project, a map of the realms of faerie, will take them on an adventure to the picturesque Austrian Alps, where Emily believes they may find the door to Bambleby's realm, and the key to freeing him from his family's dark plans. But with new friendships for the prickly Emily to navigate and dangerous Folk lurking in every forest and hollow, Emily must unravel the mysterious workings of faerie doors, and of her own heart. Praise for this series: 'A darkly gorgeous fantasy that sparkles with snow and magic, this book wholly enchanted me' Sangu Mandanna, author of The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches 'A thoroughly charming academic fairy tale, complete with footnotes and a low-key grumpy romance' Guardian 'Enchanting in every sense of the word. . . This book is real magic' H. G. Parry, author of The Unlikely Escape of Uriah Heep 'A book so vividly, endlessly enchanting, so crisply assured, so rich and complete and wise and far-reaching in its worldbuilding that you'll walk away half ensorcelled, sure Fawcett found Emily Wilde's journal in some sea-stained trunk' Melissa Albert 'The ideal book to curl up with on a chilly winter's evening. . . this book is an absolute delight. ' Megan Bannen, author of The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy 'A charmingly whimsical delight. . . Five dazzling, gladdening stars' India Holton, author of The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels 'I enjoyed every word of this gorgeously written fairy tale featuring a grumpy heroine and an utterly charming love interest' Isabel Ibañez, author of Woven In Moonlight Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherlands was a Sunday Times bestseller on 30th June 2024

Verve Books Isaac A1073613748
** 'SO VIVID AND REAL, IT BROUGHT A THOUSAND MEMORIES RUSHING BACK' - Russell T Davies ** ** 'AN INSTANT QUEER CLASSIC' - Jon Ransom, author of The Gallopers ** Set in London across a single, life-altering summer, Isaac explores masculinity and queerness in the digital age and offers a fresh take on desire and intimacy, adolescent obsession and dangerous first love. After inexperienced seventeen-year-old Isaac loses his virginity through a dating app - a disappointing yet addictive experience - he spends his final months before university escaping into a dizzying new world of casual sex with forgettable men. This all changes when he meets twenty-eight-year-old Harrison at a party. Isaac is immediately infatuated by the handsome, charismatic artist, but while they grow closer, his sense of self becomes increasingly hazy. Harrison's demands shift constantly, and after Isaac tries everything to prove his worthiness, he must take a hard look at his ideas about love, sex and men, and his relationship with himself. A powerful coming-of-age story for our times, Isaac is perfect for fans of Outline Of My Lover by Douglas Martin, What Belongs to You by Garth Greenwell and 100 Boyfriends by Brontez Purnell. 'Fast-paced, raw and emotionally intelligent; brilliant on the vulnerability inherent in so many first relationships' - Daily Mail 'The gay dating scenes crackle with energy' - Financial Times 'Garner captures the complexities of coming of age as a young, queer person...Isaac's journey is every queer reader's journey delivered with wit, honesty and tenderness' - Attitude 'Garner's novel, bold and unflinching, asks how we project different identities onto those whom we love - or think we do' - Telegraph 'One of 2024's most captivating and evocative debut novels'- AnOther 'Isaac announces Garner as a significant new voice in queer literature' - Scene Magazine 'Truly impressive: funny, melancholic and acutely real. Isaac takes me back to my own adolescence in London' - James Cahill, author of Tiepolo Blue 'A richly textured, tender and unflinching coming-of-age story about sex and sexuality, relationships and power and the psychic toll of first love. Immensely readable' - Lara Williams, author of Supper Club 'Encapsulates all the wide-eyed wonderment and boundless bruising of a queer awakening. Isaac will have you smiling and screaming in equal measure as he navigates his final summer before university' - Andrés N Ordorica, author of How We Named the Stars 'A beautifully crafted and clear-sighted exploration of a young man making sense of contemporary gay life' - Ben Fergusson, author of An Honest Man 'Compulsively readable, Isaac is both an entertaining bildungsroman and a hyper-real snapshot of contemporary gay life' - Christopher Castellani, author of Leading Men 'Garner writes like a queer, twenty-first century Richard Yates: honest, uncompromising, fearless, and completely engrossing' - Alex Pheby, author of Playthings 'So carefully written, sexually candid but full of warmth and longing... Deeply satisfying in its elegance and tenderness' - Niamh Campbell, author of This Happy 'A frank and tender portrayal of young queer identity... I raced through it!' - Kerry Andrew, author of We Are Together Because 'Isaac thinks sensitively about masculinity, its potential for softness, beauty and brutality. Scenes from this novel have lingered in my mind for months' - Lily Lindon, author of Double Booked This novel contains depictions of sex and domestic violence.

2024 Winner, Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature, The Sami Rohr Jewish Literary Institute One of the Wall Street Journal's 10 Best Books of 2023 Named a Booklist Editors' Choice in History: Adult Books, 2023 Finalist, Writing Based on Archival Material: National Jewish Book Awards Finalist, Sophie Brody Medal, American Library Association "[Kessler] has done an exceptional job and opened new vistas on troubles past and present." - Wall Street Journal "Kessler's history is key to understanding the current situation between Israelis and Palestinians." - Booklist , Starred Review A gripping, profoundly human, yet even-handed narrative of the origins of the Middle East conflict, with enduring resonance and relevance for our time. In spring 1936, the Holy Land erupted in a rebellion that targeted both the local Jewish community and the British Mandate authorities that for two decades had midwifed the Zionist project. The Great Arab Revolt would last three years, cost thousands of lives-Jewish, British, and Arab-and cast the trajectory for the Middle East conflict ever since. Yet incredibly, no history of this seminal, formative first "Intifada" has ever been published for a general audience. The 1936-1939 revolt was the crucible in which Palestinian identity coalesced, uniting rival families, city and country, rich and poor in a single struggle for independence. Yet the rebellion would ultimately turn on itself, shredding the social fabric, sidelining pragmatists in favor of extremists, and propelling waves of refugees from their homes. British forces' aggressive counterinsurgency took care of the rest, finally quashing the uprising on the eve of World War II. The revolt to end Zionism had instead crushed the Arabs themselves, leaving them crippled in facing the Jews' own drive for statehood a decade later. To the Jews, the insurgency would leave a very different legacy. It was then that Zionist leaders began to abandon illusions over Arab acquiescence, to face the unnerving prospect that fulfilling their dream of sovereignty might mean forever clinging to the sword. The revolt saw thousands of Jews trained and armed by Britain-the world's supreme military power-turning their ramshackle guard units into the seed of a formidable Jewish army. And it was then, amid carnage in Palestine and the Hitler menace in Europe, that portentous words like "partition" and "Jewish state" first appeared on the international diplomatic agenda. This is the story of two national movements and the first sustained confrontation between them. The rebellion was Arab, but the Zionist counter-rebellion-the Jews' military, economic, and psychological transformation-is a vital, overlooked element in the chronicle of how Palestine became Israel. Today, eight decades on, the revolt's legacy endures. Hamas's armed wing and rockets carry the name of the fighter-preacher whose death sparked the 1936 rebellion. When Israel builds security barriers, sets up checkpoints, or razes homes, it is evoking laws and methods inherited from its British predecessor. And when Washington promotes a "two-state solution," it is invoking a plan with roots in this same pivotal period. Based on extensive archival research on three continents and in three languages, Palestine 1936 is the origin story of the world's most intractable conflict, but it is also more than that. In Oren Kessler's engaging, journalistic voice, it reveals world-changing events through extraordinary individuals on all sides: their loves and their hatreds, their deepest fears and profoundest hopes.
