A READ WITH JENNA TODAY SHOW BOOK CLUB PICK AN EARPHONES AWARD WINNER Read by Rebecca Lowman with a multicast featuring Saskia Maarleveld and Kristen Sieh, with original music and creative production, this audio edition will immerse the listener in the novel's atmospheric world. "An intoxicating, genre-bending tale that asks artists and writers: What are the costs of greatness and fame?" --Kirkus The haunting new novel from New York Times bestselling author Melissa Albert, in which the estranged adult children of a legendary author, written into their dead mother's beloved fantasy series, must contend with the vine-like creep of legacy, memory, and magic. Guinevere Sharpe has two childhoods. In one, she and her brother, Ennis, live in the wooded shadow of their family's isolated Vermont farmhouse; in the other, the pages of their mother's world-famous Ninth City books, where their magical adventures have made them household names. In reality, Guinevere's childhood isn't the enchanted idyll her mother's readers imagine: she and Ennis are growing up near-feral, unwashed and underfed, escaping each day to the wild woods they've made their playland. As Edith Sharpe's books explode into epic popularity, the threats of a rural childhood give way to the escalating perils of fame--until the night it all goes up in flames, leaving Edith's series unfinished and her children the sole survivors. Now an adult coasting on her mother's name, Guinevere is mid-promotion for a ghostwritten memoir when her estranged brother, an artist who has until now spurned his family's legacy, announces an upcoming installation titled, simply, Mother. As rumors swirl around a death connected to his last show, unsettling recollections from Guinevere's childhood begin to surface. Her public facade starts to crack, forcing her to confront the questions she's spent the last twenty years running from: What really happened the night of the fire? And what dark history lies behind their mother's fantasy world? The Children is wise to the mythic weight childhood memories gather over time, and the way our most beloved stories grow up with us. It's for anyone who's ever revisited an old favorite and found its pages cast in a darker light, the line separating magic from reality blurring as we discover the books that once comforted us carry shadows of their own.

One voice. One beat. One obsession. Under the shadows of Queens, lyricist MC Malevolent and visionary beat producer DJ Loco rise from grimy recording booths to viral sensation. From underground rap battles to spotlight domination, they attempt to build an empire side by side, bound by loyalty forged in hunger and ambition. Until Portia Fairchild, a talented classical pianist, mysteriously steps into their lives with a composed exterior that both men crave. She was raised in a military family and is a gifted artist in her own right. Portia's nothing like the women desperate to be arm candy and instant fame to be in proximity to a rapper. What starts as collaboration spirals into obsession. As their fame rises and industry sharks circle, desire turns into a dangerous rivalry. What begins as fascination twists into obsession. Malevolent wants Portia's devotion not just to his music, but to him. He first set eyes on Portia while she worked as a receptionist at the recording studio. She was beautiful, quiet, and mysterious, which captured his heart. Simultaneously, Loco notices Porita's beauty, poise, and talents that he experienced first. She reminded him of someone he once loved. And now his deep desires altered his friendship with Malevolent to a rivalry that becomes chaotic. The stakes rise, every glance becomes a challenge, every weakness a weapon, and touch becomes a betrayal. Portia's a force that threatens both men and becomes the most dangerous risk of all. Fame tightens its grip. Secrets surface. Trust fractures. Brotherhood breaks under jealousy, and ambition turns violent. In a world where reputation is power and weakness means destruction, choosing her might cost them – everything. Malevolent is a dark romance about obsession disguised as devotion, friendship destroyed by desire, and the brutal cost of choosing your heart over your history. And when love turns into a battleground, someone always bleeds.

Merely the inevitable..." New York, 1899. A city full of hopes, dreams and love... Quentin Collins has left Collinsport, hoping to leave his family and their terrible secrets behind, for ever. But something new and evil is stalking him. As the Skin Walkers seek to take command of a new century, they need Quentin at their side. Just as the prophecy foretold... 2. Blood Dance by Stephen Mark Rainey "I knew instantly that a dangerous power was at work here..." The year is 1929, and Quentin Collins finds himself in Chicago, captivated by the city's energy and the prospect of a new love. Drawn into the twilight world of speakeasies and organized crime at the Arcadia Club, he becomes embroiled with owner Chandres Tessier - an enigmatic woman to whom he is inexorably drawn, but who hides a dark secret... 3. London's Burning by Joseph Lidster 1941: As bombs fall on the city of London, Quentin Collins is reunited with his old friend, Rose. Trapped in an Underground station, she claims to have no memory of him. So he tells her how they met... 1906: Music hall star Rosie Fay is the talk of the town. But what connects her to the cases of spontaneous human combustion plaguing London's ladies of the night? And why is Quentin so interested in the song she sings? 4. The Creeping Fog by Simon Guerrier London, 1941. Quentin Collins need not fear the bombing because he is immortal, but there's much else to be scared of. The voices of his past will not rest. They are the ghosts of those he's lost. And there are other voices... A creeping fog reaching out to him... Taking refuge in an old museum will not help Quentin either, for the museum has ghosts of its own. More voices reaching out through the darkness... 5. Operation Victor by Jonathan Morris "As the saying goes, all's fair in love and war." Immortal wanderer Quentin Collins has done his best to stay on the sidelines of the Second World War, but now he's been recruited by the British Secret Service. His mission: to infiltrate the castle of Professor Moloch in the heart of the Black Forest. For the Third Reich is hiding a dark secret - Moloch has been dabbling in the occult, and he's reached out to some very dark forces indeed. Will Quentin be able to stop him? And does dashing agent Sally Green have a score of her own to settle? 6. The Haunted Refrain by Aaron Lamont "Nobody here now. Nobody but me and them. Can't you hear them? Scratch, scratch, scratch, scratch..." Barbara loves her husband and their new home. But something is missing from her life. Something she can't explain... Until, one day, she finds it. An old gramophone sits in the attic. And, on it, she hears the voice of man called Quentin Collins. A voice that talks back to her, begging her for help. Something has trapped the soul of Quentin Collins. But he isn't alone... 7. The Darkest Shadow by Nev Fountain "I am Olivia Corey, the eternal actress. I've lived my whole life in two dimensions. Apparently it's based on a true story about an old house in Maine where all manner of terrible things happen. Olivia is offered the role of 'Amanda Harris', a woman created from a painting, destined to fall in love with a cursed man, destined to roam the Earth to find him again. How could she refuse? After all, it's the part she was born to play... 8. Panic by Roy Gill "The further into the antique shop she explored, the darker it seemed to get, until Lela couldn't see the walls at all..." Lela Quick is a busy woman. She's got essays to mark, journals to edit, books to write...

LEGACY-COMPILATION mit 18 Tracks: Qwälen, Atomwinter, Bonjour Tristesse, Anarkhon, Pilori, Hraun, Tarchon Fist, Isn’t, Irrseele, Greh, Hellgrav, Malice Divine, Blood Gnosis, Melancholic Seasons, Jesajah, Voltage101, Endoplex, Dreams Of Gray POSTER: Left To Die, Runemagick, Mork, Discreation STUDIO-BERICHTE: Anthem, Burning Witches, Jag Panzer, Legion Of The Damned, Majesty Zusätzlich zu den Titel- und Band-Features der CDs gibt es Interviews mit: Aara, Ad Infinitum, Afraid Of Destiny, All My Shadows, Angstskríg, Angus McSix, Asphagor, Blodtår, Chrome Waves, Cruachan, CultØ, Darkthrone, Discreation, Disminded, Eden Weint Im Grab, Elysion, Fagus, Frozen Crown, Funeral Winds, Haliphron, Hanging Garden, Hatesphere, Heathen Foray, Hellripper, Hexer, Hypnos, Hyrgal, Icestorm, Iron Walrus, Isole, Kamelot, Lankester Merrin, Lucifer Star Machine, Marianas Rest, Mezzrow, Midjungards, Minenwerfer, Morgenröthe, Mork, Mystic Circle, Nihilo, Osiah, Outlaw, Overkill, Pop Evil, Powerwolf, Räum, Rulaman, Runemagick, Satanika, Secret Discovery, Sepolcral, Shores Of Null, Skratte, Starspawn Of Cthulhu, Storm Seeker, Subway To Sally, Suotana, Symbiontic, The 69 Eyes, Thron, Viscera, Vorna, Wardress, Warmen, Wasteland Clan, Whiskey Ritual, Winter Willow, Woe Unto Me, Xalpen
